Spring is here...Almost!

Lupinus albifrons, bush lupine, in bloom.
The first Lupine bloom of the year!

Here at Hedgerow Farms it is starting to feel like spring. The first lupines are blooming (Lupinus albifrons), and the Ray Hartman Ceanothus along the road is budding. We were all geared up to wear short sleeves and then we got word of possible snow at sea level at the end of this week!

We have had a very wet winter, which is leading to a large crop of weeds to be dealt with. The main field work happening right now is spraying and hoeing out the weeds.

The rain did help to green up our production fields and we are seeing our first grass inflorescences as well (note the Nassella pulchra below).
